40 Acres' retrospective of this Argentinean artist's work showcases her seminal pure pigments on paper "frescos" that explore identity, human rights, and the difficult topic civil war, particularly that of El Salvador's tragic loss of life, many of them children, as a result of the country's internal conflicts over 25 years ago. The artist is also passionate about education, so in addition to her exhibition, she will be completing a 3-month artist-in-residence with students at Sacramento High School.

Educational programming will include a recognized panel of scholars for a symposium discussing the history, wars and human rights violations of Central America, a discussion with author and journalist Mark Danner about the massacre at Mozote, and a youth exhibition of artwork completed by students in Perquin, El Salvador, where Bernardi spends each summer at the school she has founded.
