Jason Powers: Documenting

St. HOPE in Oak Park

November 19 - January 22, 2005

Second Saturday Reception: December 11, 5-8pm
underground books gallery

St. HOPE’s critical role in the revitalization of Oak Park intrigued Sacramento artist Jason Powers. It became the foundation for a series of photographs documenting the different aspects of St. HOPE’s involvement in the community. From education - Sacramento High School and PS7 - to economic development - 40 Acres - the photographs on display are a beautiful representation of the many different aspects of urban renewal which are the cornerstone of St. HOPE’s mission to revitalize inner-city communities through public education, civic leadership, economic development and the arts.

Art and A Film
Following the reception on December 11th will be a 8pm screening at the Guild Theater of the HBO award-winning documentary, "Gordon Parks: Half Past Autumn." Admission is free and open to all ages.
